Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following three linked serious assaults at the Opera House Casino in Scarborough.
The incident occurred in the rear smoking area of the St Thomas Street venue at around 5.30am on Saturday (18 December 2021).
Two men aged 50 and 34, and a 19-year-old woman, all from the Scarborough area, required urgent hospital treatment.
Scarborough CID is carrying out enquiries into a reported altercation between the men who have both been arrested in connection with the investigation.
The 50-year-old suffered a serious cut to his face and the 34-year-old required surgery for a significant ear injury.
The woman was not involved in the altercation. She suffered a cut to an arm while standing nearby.
Both men have been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.
Officers are urging a mixed group of people, who were near the incident immediately before the alleged assaults, to come forward a soon as possible.
It is believed that some of these individuals were involved in a reported “heated argument” that may have been the catalyst to the violent events that followed.
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Paul Thompson or Steve Monty at Scarborough CID.
If you would prefer to remain anonymous, you can make a report to Crimestoppers on freephone 0800 555 111 or online.
